As we know, health and fitness as we age becomes even more important. We all want to be able to travel, see our kids grow up, get married, and eventually playing with our grandkids. In order to do all of these things we have to be somewhat healthy to live our best lives we have to take care of our bodies.
Taking care of your body can be a tricky puzzle and let’s just say the older we get the trickier things get. Hell, let’s face the truth the older you get; you start losing pieces to the damn puzzle. Alright so here are the 3 Key Tips to fitness as we age:
1. Movement: Everyone needs to get up and move. Being sedentary is one of the worst things we can do as we age! Things that are in motion, normally can stay in motion. Lifting weights and doing body weight exercises will give you the strength to do the everyday things and more.
2. Nutrition: We need to be conscious of what we put into our bodies. Remember you can’t outwork a bad diet. If you put junk or trash in your body that is what you will get out of it. Concentrate on quality whole foods, a good amount of protein, carbohydrates, vegetables and fats. A balanced diet is the best way to lose weight, and live healthy.
3. Hydration: For some reason this is probably one of the most difficult keys to accomplish. Consuming enough water helps all of your bodily functions function properly; helps with digestion, fat loss and helps you feel better overall. A good daily goal is 1 oz. of water for every pound of bodyweight that you have. Many of you may feel like this is too much water, but if you aim for that amount even if you fall short you are drinking more than you normally would.
Remember as we age it takes a conscious effort to be healthy, be active, eat clean and drink plenty of water. Choose your health now so you body won’t fail you later!
